Your sailing adventure starts on T/S Rupel.
Ever dreamed of setting sail during the summer holidays aboard an authentic wooden two-master?
Then now is the time! Every year, STI (Sail Training International) organizes an international sailing competition in Europe during the summer vacation.
One of STI's goals is to bring together young people aged 15 to 25 from around the world and introduce them to the magical world of sailing at sea. Additionally, STI also organizes various cultural and sporting activities in the host ports visited between the different races.

Sailing ship Rupel, a beautiful wooden gaff schooner built in 1996 on the banks of the Rupel, stands as a symbol of craftsmanship and tradition. This unique vessel brings together young and old to enjoy the magic of sailing and adventure.
Throughout the year, the Rupel shines at various nautical events, impressing all with her majestic appearance and rich history. But the sailing ship Rupel is more than just a vessel: it actively supports social projects, offering people a unique opportunity to experience the power of teamwork and perseverance.
During the summer holidays, the Rupel faithfully participates in the Tall Ships Races (TSR), an international event that brings together young people from around the world. With pride and passion, the Rupel has already won several awards, further cementing its reputation as an icon of the Belgian sailing community.

The Tall Ships Races with T/S Rupel
The Tall Ships Races are sailed in various stages and routes.
With T/S Rupel, you can register for each stage individually or for multiple stages.
Life on board T/S Rupel during the Tall Ships Races
- There is no prior knowledge required. Learning by doing!
- During the different stages, a watch system is implemented on board to ensure that sailing can continue 24/7 at sea.
One crew sails while the other crews rest.
The watch system is structured as follows:- 8 AM - 12 PM and 8 PM - 12 AM (crew 1)
- 12 PM - 4 PM and 12 AM - 4 AM (crew 2)
- 4 PM - 8 PM and 4 AM - 8 AM (crew 3)
A watch consists of 4 people, with at least 1 experienced watch leader.

How and when to sign up?
The registrations will open on zaterdag 31 januari om 18:00u.
Be quick, as spots are limited.
To sign up, you need to fill in the registrationform and you can do this From January 31, 2026, at 6:00 PM. Belgian time.
A while after registering, you will receive a confirmation email indicating which routes you can join.
You will then receive an email with further practical information.
- If you’re under 18, you can still sign up — your parents just need to confirm it afterwards.
Between 15 & 25 years?
Young people between the ages of 15-25 pay 59 euros per day
Older then 25 years
Adults over the age of 25 pay 77 euros per day

Includes meals, insurance, fun, etc.
